I live in Capitola, California with my husband, three children, and my dog, Tofu. Much of my work is set on the sea because I grew up sailing in the South Pacific with my parents and four siblings. As an adult, I have enjoyed crewing on several voyages in the Caribbean.
I love to write for middle grade readers and have been a member of SCBWI (Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators) since 2018. I am an aspiring novelist and have written three novels set on the sea and am working on a fourth. I also write poetry, travel essays, and memoir. My short story, A Road to Connection, was published in a 2022 Chicken Soup for the Soul book.
I teach Language Arts and Creative Writing to 6th-9th grade homeschoolers.
When I'm not writing, teaching, or reading, you can find me ocean swimming, prone paddle boarding, or pretending to be a sea otter.

Ellie must figure out the strange happenings on the boat, but while Ellie investigates, she breaks the captain’s number one rule resulting in the appearance of a mermaid, a magical ring, and pirates who kidnap Mom and Dad. Before the pirate ship disappears from their radar, Ellie must set aside all logic and embrace magic or risk losing her family to dastardly pirates.
